Terms and Conditions of  Training

By booking your training workshop, you're agreeing to these terms and conditions. If you have any questions, please check in with me before you book. A link to this page will be sent with every workshop reminder.

1. Accept and work with my cancellation policy

If you cancel more than 7 days in advance, there's no fee. If you don't come to your workshop but you don't let me know before we start, I charge a full workshop fee. In between those, there's a sliding scale of discounts to fairly incentivise your attendance: you can view the full workshop fees timeline here.

I know life changes quickly and you need to be in a good headspace to learn, so I don't mind if you need to cancel. Just please remember to let me know.

2. Be respectful and supportive towards fellow learners

We're respectful and supportive of each other in our workshops. We listen to understand each other's perspective, and we don't share each other's stories outside of the workshop.  We tell each other what we need to learn well, and we engage with good intent.

We'll deliberately work through on what that means as we start our session, because deciding how to work together is a really important part of creating a healthy and safe work environment.

As it's ultimately my responsibility to host a good session for everyone, you'll be able to private-message me during the workshop to raise concerns/questions. In rare instances of unacceptable behaviour, I can remove people from the workshop and work with them separately.

3. Have your course manual and other materials ready

I send electronic course manuals out 5 days before your workshop. You need to have your course manual easily available to you throughout the workshop. If you're using electronic resources, make sure you have enough screen space.

A printed course manual is useful for most courses. You are responsible for printing it off in time for your workshop. You can also order copies through me: this costs extra and must be paid for before I send your parcel. Allow 7+days from payment to receive your delivery.

4. Take responsibility for payment of your invoice

I send invoices right after our workshop. You need to provide billing details (like your address) when you check out, even though we'll only meet online.

The invoice will be issued in your name but you're very welcome to arrange for your employer to pay it. Remember to get approval before you book your workshop. If you have problems getting approval, check my FAQs for help.

The invoice includes payment instructions. If you're able to afford it, you're welcome to pay it yourself and seek reimbursement from your employer later. I send a quick email to confirm when your invoice is paid (or a reminder if it's not paid by the due date). You can sign in to worksense.nz anytime to manage your account.

5. Raise problems and/or request re-assessment early

If at any stage you're not happy with my service, please let me know. I'll do my best to resolve the issue, even if it's hard or awkward.

If your workshop includes assessment (e.g., Stage 1 initial HSR Unit Standard 29315)

  • You remain responsible for payment regardless of Unit Standard achievement. Your invoice does not state whether you have achieved the Unit Standard.

  • Our assessment process is supportive, clear, and subject to moderation by the Open Polytechnic. You have 2 opportunities to resubmit incorrect answers during the assessment.

  • If you do not achieve the unit standard during the assessment, you will have 1 opportunity within 1 calendar month of workshop completion to appeal your assessment. The outcome of that appeal will be final.

6. Accept my privacy policy

I have a comprehensive privacy policy. I never ask for information that I don't need, and I'm careful about what information I share on your invoice.

You can find my full privacy policy here.  Please reach out anytime if you have questions or concerns.
